Flame retardancy test is a test method for the ability of the tested object to delay flame continuation, spread, diffusion, etc. After years of development, flame retardancy testing has formed a variety of standards, becoming a very focused testing program in the relevant industry.
Now many plastic products need to do flame retardant test, flame retardant standard can be very good to judge which grade the product belongs to, so that the user will not use the product in the wrong place to prevent the occurrence of danger, there are many flame retardant standards, including American flame retardant standard for ANSI/UL94, UL1581, national standard GB4943.1-2011 in Appendix A also introduced combustion test.
There are five types for UL94 flame retardant standard tests.
(1) Class B horizontal combustion tests require a combustion rate of less than 40 mm per minute for samples 3 to 13 mm thick; less than 70 mm per minute for samples less than 3 mm thick; or extinguishment before the 100 mm mark.
(2) 94V-0, 94V-1/94V-2 level of vertical combustion test, where V-2 for the sample after two 10-second combustion test, the flame is extinguished within 60 seconds, there can be incendiary material to fall, V-1 for the sample after two 10-second combustion test, the flame is extinguished within 60 seconds, there can be no incendiary material to fall, V-0 for the sample after two 10-second combustion test, the flame is extinguished within 30 seconds, there can be no incendiary material to fall
(3) 94 Class 5-V vertical combustion test
(4) Flame spread index test with radiation plate
(5) 94VTM-0、94VTM-1、94VTM-2 vertical combustion test
Wire burning method of UL1581 flame retardant standard:
(1) VW-1: Vertical combustion test (UL wire combustion grade)
(2) FT1: vertical combustion test.
(3) FT2: Horizontal combustion test.
(4) FT4: vertical combustion test.
(5) FT6: Horizontal combustion and fumigation tests. (The FT class combustion rating is the CSA standard wire combustion rating.)
